A global phenomenon that once haunted the corners of the internet is finally stepping onto the big screen. BACKROOMS, the chilling sci-fi horror inspired by the viral Creepypasta, is set to premiere in the Philippines on June 3, 2026—marking a major cinematic moment for fans of the genre.

Local distributor CreaZion Studios has officially unveiled the film’s release date, along with an eerie first poster and a pulse-pounding teaser that hints at the unsettling journey ahead. Known for championing bold and thought-provoking films, the studio continues its mission of bringing globally acclaimed stories closer to Filipino audiences.

Produced by genre powerhouse A24 in collaboration with Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps, BACKROOMS is the directorial debut of Kane Parsons—the 20-year-old YouTube creator who turned a simple internet myth into a full-blown cultural phenomenon. His original web series, which explores the unsettling concept of endless, liminal spaces hidden beyond reality, has amassed nearly 100 million views online.

The film adaptation elevates the horror with a stellar cast that includes Academy Award nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), alongside Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, Avan Jogia, Chelah Horsdal, and Toby Hargrave.

In the teaser, viewers are drawn into a seemingly ordinary furniture showroom—until a mysterious doorway appears, leading into a disorienting world where time bends and space feels infinite. The film’s first poster teases this same uncanny atmosphere, featuring the now-iconic yellow wallpaper that fans of the Backrooms lore will instantly recognize.

Beyond the scares, BACKROOMS represents a new chapter for CreaZion Studios as part of its #KwentoMoTo campaign, which aims to spotlight human stories and shared experiences through cinema. According to CEO and Co-Founder RJ San Agustin, the goal is to give Southeast Asian audiences access to world-class films the way they’re meant to be experienced—on the big screen.

Following successful releases like No Other Choice, The Legend of Ochi, and The Substance, the studio continues to build a compelling lineup of international titles that resonate with both global and local audiences.

As anticipation builds, fans can also step into the world of BACKROOMS ahead of its release by visiting immersive mall activations—bringing the eerie, liminal experience to life.

One thing’s for sure: this is a film that doesn’t just want to be watched—it wants to be felt.

BACKROOMS opens in Philippine cinemas on June 3, 2026.
