They say teachers sacrifice a lot for their students—and this rings true particularly during these times.
Amy Malagum is a 7th-grade science teacher at a public high school in Cagayan de Oro. Despite the health risks involved, she still goes to school from time to time to distribute modules.
Amy has three kids, the youngest of whom was born during the height of the pandemic seven months ago. Juggling parenting and teaching while her husband is away at work is difficult, but Amy takes it all in stride.
As the second eldest in a brood of ten, Amy also acts as something of a de facto mom to her siblings who have lost jobs due to the pandemic.
But it’s financially draining to support both her own family and her siblings.
With this, Amy tried out for Shopee Milyonaryo on the morning of November 11. That very same day, she won the jackpot prize on Wowowin.
For Amy, the cash prize is a blessing not for herself, but for her family. Amy plans to invest the money in a house for her children and share the rest with her siblings.
